Janet connie cisneros

Janet first started playing the clarinet at the age of 10 at Montebello Intermediate School, where she was guided by her music teacher, Mrs. Yvonne Knudson. At the end of eighth grade, she decided to continue learning music by joining the Mighty Oiler Brigade, under the direction of Mr. Larry Covellone. It was during her studies at Montebello High School that she discovered her passion for music and decided to pursue a career in music education. Janet continued her education at Cerritos College, where she studied clarinet with Dr. David Lopez for five years. She earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Music at Cerritos College. She then transferred to Azusa Pacific University, School of Music, where she studied clarinet with Jennifer Showalter. Janet was also a teacher for the Azusa Pacific Conservatory of Music, teaching young students beginning piano and clarinet. Janet studies at California State University, Long Beach, where she is a music major at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. She will earn her Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education and Wind Instruments. Janet is a student of Christopher Stoutenborough studying the clarinet. 

The ensembles that Janet was a part of are East Los Angeles College were the “Husky Marching Band”, Jazz Band, Chamber Chorale, and, years later, the Symphony Orchestra led by Samvel Chilingarian. At Cerritos College, Janet performed in the Concert Band and Orchestra, both directed by Dr. David Betancourt and Mr. Allan Hallback.  She also took conducting lessons from Dr. David Betancourt. Janet has also participated in the Music Association of California Community Colleges, where she performed with the college honor  Concert Band, which was led by many of California’s top conductors from universities. Janet has also participated in the International Clarinet Association Clarinet Festival in 2011 and 2025. At the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, the ensembles that she has performed in are the Symphonic Band, Woodwind Chamber music, and Clarinet Choir.  Janet is an active teacher in her community. She is the Music Director for Youth Center in Los Alamitos and is the Woodwind and Beginning Piano instructor at Bellflower Music Center.
